{"id":4699,"date":"2023-02-22T09:27:43","date_gmt":"2023-02-22T09:27:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/neuropediatoolbox.org\/?p=4699"},"modified":"2023-02-22T14:25:35","modified_gmt":"2023-02-22T14:25:35","slug":"preferencia-braquial-antes-de-los-2-anos-de-edad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/neuropediatoolkit.org\/en\/preferencia-braquial-antes-de-los-2-anos-de-edad\/","title":{"rendered":"Brachial preference before 2 years of age."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Development of the work <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lateralidad\">Laterality <\/a>is one of the curiosities of pediatric neurology that occur during neurodevelopment, and is a direct consequence of human anatomy (the existence of a brain divided into 2 cerebral hemispheres) and the process of progressive specialization that takes place during learning, in which certain brain areas take charge of certain processes to improve the <strong>efficiency <\/strong>at the cost of a loss of <strong>pluripotency<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are laterality of several neurological systems: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Hand <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>foot <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>That\u2019s it. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Language.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Memoria. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In most people there is a <strong>congruent dominance<\/strong>, although this is not always the case, and there are people who can be right-handed and left-handed, or left-handed and right-handed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Generally speaking, left-handers tend to have less lateralization of language function and memory, and as a consequence, when they have a unilateral lesion in the dominant hemisphere, they tend to have less language involvement and greater compensatory capacity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Laterality is established in the human being between 2 and 4 years,  so it is a <strong>pathological sign that a child under 2 years of age preferably uses an arm to manipulate objects<\/strong>.
