Prophylaxis with palivizumab is recommended for the prevention of serious lower respiratory tract diseases caused by RSV during anticipated periods of RSV infection risk in:
- Patients under 3 years of age affected by neuromuscular diseases with marked hypotonia and/or respiratory muscle weakness.
- Patients under 3 years of age affected by static encephalopathies or
chromosomal diseases presenting with marked hypotonia (e.g., Prader-Willi syndrome).
