linical%2C%20laboratory%20and%20imaging%20data%29%20on%20new%20cases%20with%20cutis%20tricolor%20seen%20and%20followed-up%20at%20our%20institutions%20during%20years%202010%5Cu20132016.%5Cn%5CnResults%5CnThe%20existing%20literature%20revealed%2019%20previous%20studies%20%2835%20cases%29%20with%20pure%20cutaneous%20or%20syndromic%20cutis%20tricolor%20phenomena.%20Our%20personal%20experience%20included%205%20unpublished%20patients%20%283%20boys%3B%202%20girls%3B%20currently%20aged%202%20to%2014%20years%29%20seen%20and%20followed-up%20at%20our%20Institutions%20in%20Italy%20who%20had%3A%20%28I%29%20skin%20manifestations%20of%20the%20cutis%20tricolor%20type%20%28N%3D5%29%3B%20%28II%29%20skeletal%20abnormalities%20including%20small%20skull%20%28n%3D2%29%2C%20obtuse%20angle%20of%20mandible%20%28n%3D3%29%2C%20mild%20to%20moderate%20scoliosis%20%28n%3D3%29%2C%20vertebral%20defects%20%28n%3D3%29%2C%20and%20long%20bones%20bowing%20%28n%3D3%29%3B%20mild%20psychomotor%20delay%20%28n%3D3%29%3B%20epilepsy%20%28n%3D2%29%3B%20anomalies%20of%20the%20corpus%20callosum%20%28n%3D3%29%3B%20and%20cavum%20vergae%20%28n%20%3D2%29.%5Cn%5CnConclusions%5CnThis%20study%20further%20confirms%20and%20expands%20the%20overall%20phenotype%20of%20cutis%20tricolor.%20By%20literature%20review%20and%20personal%20experience%20we%20conclude%20that%20the%20skin%20abnormalities%20of%20the%20cutis%20tricolor%20type%20are%20stable%20over%20time%3B%20the%20skeletal%20defects%20are%20mild%20to%20moderate%20and%20do%20not%20progress%20or%20cause%20relevant%20orthopaedic%20complications%3B%20the%20neurological%5C%2Fbehavioural%20phenotype%20does%20not%20progress%20and%20the%20paroxysmal%20events%20%28when%20present%29%20tend%20to%20decrease%20over%20time%3B%20there%20is%20a%20typical%20facial%20phenotype%20in%20some%20patients%20%28long%2C%20elongated%20face%2C%20thick%20and%20brushy%20eyebrows%2C%20hypertelorism%2C%20deep%20nasal%20bridge%20with%20large%20bulbous%20nose%20and%20anteverted%20nostrils%29%2C%20which%20characterizes%20a%20somewhat%20distinct%20syndromic%20phenotype%3B%20some%20patients%20may%20develop%20early%20onset%20cataracts.%20The%20allelic%20dydymotic%20hypothesis%20of%20post-zygotic%20mutations%20likely%20involving%20the%20same%20gene%20loci%20could%20well%20explain%20the%20overall%20skin%2C%20bone%2C%20lens%20and%20nervous%20system%20phenomena%20of%20migration%20of%20different%20streaks%20of%20clones%20in%20the%20different%20tissues.%22%2C%22date%22%3A%222016-10%22%2C%22language%22%3A%22%22%2C%22DOI%22%3A%2210.21037%5C%2Fqims.2016.10.14%22%2C%22ISSN%22%3A%222223-4292%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22https%3A%5C%2F%5C%2Fwww.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov%5C%2Fpmc%5C%2Farticles%5C%2FPMC5130568%5C%2F%22%2C%22collections%22%3A%5B%22TNKPW3IH%22%5D%2C%22dateModified%22%3A%222024-09-08T23%3A12%3A17Z%22%7D%7D%5D%7D
