The Conselleria de Sanitat has a current speech therapy health treatment agreement from 2018 for people over 6 years of age in the following cases:
- Aphasia as a result of an acquired lesion, as the sole sequel, and who were previously able to speak normally.
- Dysarthria as a result of a motor speech disorder caused by a lesion of the central or peripheral nervous system that presents with alterations in respiration, phonation, resonance, articulation, and prosody, with integrity for the mental elaboration of linguistic processes.
- Fluency disorders (stuttering, cluttering) regardless of their etiology.
- Dysphonia as a result of lesions located in the vocal folds and/or due to an imbalance in the coordination of the respiratory muscles, larynx, or resonance cavities.
- Hearing pathology (cochlear implant), in those patients affected by severe bilateral sensorineural hearing loss and who have undergone a cochlear implant.
In children over 4 years old, in case of dysphagia as a consequence of congenital skeletal-structural lesions or acquired disorders and those functional disorders originating in the neonatal phase or developed during growth that present with swallowing dysfunction.
It can be requested by the ENT specialist, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Phoniatrics, Neurology, or Neuropediatrics.
