MOG Antibody Associated Disease (MOGAD)
Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD) is an immune-mediated demyelinating inflammatory disorder of the central nervous system.
Clinical Manifestations
- Optic neuritis: Frequently bilateral, painful, and associated with marked papillary edema, this inflammation involves the optic pathways and may result in blurred vision or total loss.
- Transverse myelitis: Inflammation of the spinal cord that causes motor weakness, sensory alterations and bladder dysfunction. This disease affects the central nervous tissue and can limit motor and sensory functions.
- ADEM: Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) is an inflammation of the brain and spinal cord that commonly occurs in children. It presents symptoms such as fever, nausea, dizziness and neurological problems.
