Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein Antibody-associated Disease (MOGAD)

Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD) is an immune-mediated demyelinating inflammatory disorder of the central nervous system.

Clinical Manifestations

  • Optic neuritis: Frequently bilateral, painful, and associated with marked optic disc swelling.
  • Transverse myelitis: Inflammation of the spinal cord presenting with motor weakness, sensory disturbances, and bladder dysfunction.
  • ADEM: Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, the predominant clinical presentation in the pediatric age group.
